Honey quietly walked down the schools corridors, it wasn’t late, maybe 8-9 pm but she still was dressed in her pyjama’s. A pair of blue pyjama bottoms, that dragged against the floor, and a blue shirt that swamped her small shoulders. Images of cute cartoon sheep decorated her pyjama bottoms. There was also an image of one large sheep on the front of her large shirt and as usual her clothes were three sizes too big.
Despite the fact that every time she wore these pyjamas out around the school, she ended up on the receiving end of some funny and degrading stares, they were her favourite.
Turning a corner, Honey approached the library. In her right hand she carried a beaten worn out book, it was a romance of course - ‘Always and Forever.’a book she had read many, many times before. She had just finished it and had come to the library so that she may return it and pick out another one.
Pushing against the large oak doors that were the entrance to the library, Honey entered to see the librarian still sat behind her desk. The old woman lifted her head. Ignoring the disproving look the librarian was shooting her with, Honey carefully placed the beaten book onto the desk. “I’d like to return this please.”
The librarian stared at Honey over the rim of her glasses a minute longer before she pressed her lips into a thin line and picked up the book. “I don’t see why you don’t just keep this book.” She muttered beneath her breath as she went about her business. “You’ve completely worn it down.”
“S-sorry.” Honey’s smile faltered and she blushed a beet read, embarrassed. “It’s my favourite.”
“Is it now? Who would’ve thought.” The librarian rolled her eyes at Honey’s smile. Professor Lehane was quite dense, it was clear she hadn’t picked up on her sarcastic tone. It caused the librarian to frown.
“Is it right for you to be parading around in your..” The woman slowly looked over Honey’s attire again. “- - night wear?”
Honey blinked her large brown eyes and then looked down at her pyjamas. “U-um. I - I was reading in my room.” She explained, flushing again. The Art professor didn’t think there was anything wrong with your pyjamas around the school. Plenty of people did it. But maybe it was frowned upon for professors to do so? She wasn’t sure. “The headmaster doesn’t mind.”
“Hn.” The old woman’s face wrinkled with her frown. “Are you going to be getting another book?” Honey nodded her head, “Well hurry up then! I don’t have all night.”
“S-sorry.” Nodding her thanks towards the elderly woman, Honey still offered her a smile despite her rude attitude and quickly headed off to find a book. She didn’t have any specific book in mind to read, but she wanted something new, something a little different - With a fantasy twist, so she headed to the Sci-fi - fantasy section.
The library was quiet, few people were searching for books. Those that were in the library were sat at tables, some reading, some doing homework. Which reminded Honey that the library was open until 10:30 pm and that there was no rush for her to find a book and leave.
Half an hour passed as Honey looked over books, she read the summaries on the backs of covers, eventually stopping at one that sounded interesting. Taking the book, she glanced around the library, spotted an empty table in a corner and hurried over. Once sat she opened the book and began to read.
